Perceptual Concepts

1. Interposition

The bird and the electrical wires are in front of the unfinished building.

2. Linear Perspective

Lines that are actually parallel may appear to be converging if we look at them in the correct perspective.

3. Relative Size/Size Constancy

Even though both of these insect sprays are exactly the same size, the one closer to us appears larger. We nevertheless perceive that they have the same size.

4. Brightness Constancy

Although we sense different intensities of light in this picture, we perceive that all the leaves have the same brightness arnd all parts of the violet flower have the same brightness.

5. Binocular Disparity/Convergence

Depth Cues

Binocular convergence and retinal disparity both provide depth cues.

6. Motion Parallax

Objects far away appear to move more slowly compared to objects that are near.

7. Atmospheric Perspective

Due to atmospheric perspective, things far away can only be seen with limited details.
